The official trailer for FX’s upcoming miniseries, Under the Banner of Heaven, has been released.
In the series, the faith of a Mormon police detective is shaken while investigating the murder of a woman that seems to involve the Church and one of Utah’s most esteemed families. Andrew Garfield will star as Pyre, the detective, alongside Daisy Edgar-Jones, Sam Worthington, Wyatt Russell, and more.
The official description for the miniseries reads:
“Under the Banner of Heaven is a limited series inspired by Jon Krakauer’s true crime bestseller of the same name. A devout detective’s faith is tested as he investigates a brutal murder that seems to be connected to an esteemed Utah family’s spiral into LDS fundamentalism and their distrust in the government. Andrew Garfield will star as “Pyre,” an LDS elder who is committed to his Church and family but begins to question some of the Church’s teachings through his contact with a suspected murderer. Daisy Edgar-Jones stars as “Brenda,” a young faithful Mormon who is the victim of a brutal murder.”
Under the Banner of Heaven will premiere April 28, and will land on Hulu in partnership with FX on the same day. In the meantime, you still have time to check out the true-crime book that inspired the series, Under the Banner of Heaven by Jon Krakauer.
