‘Madame Web’: Upcoming Sony Marvel Picture Adds ‘Euphoria’ Star Sydney Sweeney
Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney is gaining recognition due to her role in the HBO series and White Lotus and will now be joining the cast of Sony’s upcoming Marvel project Madame Web. According to Deadline, Sweeney will star alongside Dakota Johnson, who was announced to be taking on the titular role just last month.
Madame Web is set to be directed by S.J. Clarkson from a screenplay by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, who also penned the Morbius script for Sony. Madame Web is one of several upcoming movies for Sony’s Shared Spider-Man Universe, alongside Morbius which is releasing April 1, Kraven the Hunter starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson which is due in 2023, and more untitled projects.
This project will be the first female-centered project to come from Sony’s Shared Spider-Man Universe. While Sweeney’s role in the film is unconfirmed, if we had to wager a guess it would likely be that she will take on the role of Arachne, who becomes the second Madame Web.
Madame Web currently has no confirmed release date. Follow along with Nerds & Beyond here as this project unfolds.
