Dan Stevens (I’m Your Man, Legion) has been added to the cast of an upcoming Hulu limited series — currently under the working title Immigrant — coming from Robert Siegel (Pam & Tommy).

Immigrant will tell the true story of Somen “Steve” Banerjee — portrayed by Kumail Nanjiani (Eternals, The Big Sick) — the Indian-American entrepreneur who would go on to become the founder of the male revue Chippendales. Stevens, meanwhile, is set to take on the role of hustler and serial schmoozer Paul Snider. As per Deadline, who first reported the news, “Snider stumbles upon the opportunity of a lifetime in the form of Steve Banerjee (Nanjiani) and his struggling LA backgammon club. Through their unlikely partnership, the iconic male stripping institution Chippendales is born.”

Despite the cheeky subject matter, there’s a dark history rooted within the formation of Chippendales, which will be revealed in this “insane, darkly comedic, crime-ridden story.”

Nanjiani took to Twitter to express his feelings on working with Stevens on the project.

Additional cast members include Murray Bartlett and Annaleigh Ashford. Quentin Plair, Andrew Rannells, and Nicola Peltz are set to appear as recurring characters.

Siegel and Jenni Konner will serve as co-showrunners on Immigrant, with Matt Shakman directing and Rajiv Joseph and Mehar Sethi writing.
