Paramount+ has announced that its highly-anticipated military science fiction drama, Halo, has been renewed for a second season just in time for its series premiere next month.

For over 20 years, the popular game franchise has brought to life the world of Eric Nylund’s novel The Fall of Reach. Now, the series is coming to life in a whole new way. Produced by Showtime, Halo takes place in the universe first introduced in the original Halo video game, which debuted on Xbox in 2001. The story will follow an epic 26th-century conflict between humanity and an alien threat called the Covenant while exploring personal stories, adventure, and an imaginative look into the future.

“’Halo’ is an expansive, world-building opportunity for Paramount+, and we’re thrilled to give fans a second season to look forward to before we launch the series next month.”

– Tanya Giles, chief programming officer, Paramount+
