Oscar Isaac Receives SAG Award Nomination for ‘Scenes from a Marriage’

Nominations for the 2022 Screen Actors Guild Awards have officially been announced!

HBO and HBO Max received a total of 14 nominations, including one for Oscar Isaac —  Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series — for his role in the limited series Scenes from a Marriage.

An adaptation of Ingmar Bergman’s classic Swedish miniseries, Scenes from a Marriage is written and directed by Hagai Levi. The series explores love, hatred, desire, monogamy, marriage, and divorce through the lens of a contemporary American couple. Jessica Chastain stars as Mira, a confident, ambitious tech executive left unfulfilled by her marriage, and Isaac portrays Jonathan, a cerebral and accommodating philosophy professor desperate to keep their relationship intact.

Over the course of five episodes, both Isaac and Chastain emotionally lay themselves bare to audiences, fraught with complex feelings of love, hatred, and everything in between. Scenes from a Marriage is a hauntingly honest and intimate look into a tragically collapsing relationship. (In case you missed it, check out our review.) Isaac’s SAG Award nomination is a well-earned accomplishment for his passionate and raw performance in the series.

Isaac had an incredibly busy 2021, a year which saw the release of several more of his projects, including The Card Counter, The Addams Family 2, and Dune. His next film, Big Gold Brick, is due to premiere on February 25, and he will also be making his grand entrance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the vigilante Moon Knight aka Marc Spector sometime this year. Take a look at all of his upcoming roles here.

This is the first time that Oscar Isaac has been nominated for a SAG Award.

The 28th annual SAG Awards will take place on February 27 at 8 p.m. EST, airing on TBS and TNT.
