‘Don’t Look Up’ Scores Four Golden Globe Nominations

Adam McKay’s new Netflix dark comedy Don’t Look Up has scored four nominations at the 2022 Golden Globes!

The satire, that’s not so much satire at this point, turns on a mirror on society and its growing phobia of scientific fact. The film boasts an impressive ensemble cast including Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep, Jonah Hill, Rob Morgan, Cate Blanchett, Mark Rylance, Tyler Perry, Timothée Chalamet, Ariana Grande, and Ron Perlman.

The film is nominated for:

  • Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy
  • Leonardo DiCaprio for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy
  • Jennifer Lawrence for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy
  • Adam McKay for Best Screenplay, Motion Picture

When grad student Kate Dibiasky (Lawrence) finds an asteroid on a trajectory to Earth with a 100% collision chance, she and her professor Dr. Randall Mindy (DiCaprio) set out to convince the world of its impending arrival, which turns out to be much harder than it should be. Armed with scientific data, the pair teams up with Dr. Teddy Oglethorpe of NASA to take on the most difficult task of all: convince the sitting President of the United States (Streep) that the world is about to end.

Simultaneously hilarious and frightening, Don’t Look Up paints the perfect picture of the current status of American culture and shows quite clearly what will happen if we continue down this road.

Don’t Look Up is currently playing in select theaters and will be available to stream on Netflix on Friday, December 24. Check out our spoiler-free review!
