Netflix has announced that Aria Mia Loberti will be portraying lead Marie-Laure in All The Light We Cannot See, the miniseries based on the bestselling novel. In a massive victory for disability representation, Loberti was cast after an international search for blind and low-vision actors to portray the character. She has no professional acting experience and is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Rhetoric at Pennsylvania State University. She is also a former Fulbright Scholar. In a statement on Instagram, Loberti expanded on what the role means to her.

All The Light We Cannot See will span four episodes. Shawn Levy of Stranger Things will direct all four episodes, while Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight will write the series. There is no word yet on a release date for the project.
