Paul Mescal and Josh O’Connor are set to lead the film adaptation of The History of Sound! Based on the short story by Ben Shattuck, the film is a romance between two men during World War I as they record the stories of their fellow soldiers for posterity.

O’Connor recently won an Emmy Award for his role as Prince Charles on The Crown, while Mescal is next set to appear in The Lost Daughter for Netflix after winning a BAFTA for Normal People.

Oliver Hermanus will direct The History of Sound, which is expected to begin filming in summer 2022. There is no word yet on a release date for the film.
