‘Batgirl’: Brendan Fraser to Star in DC Film
Brendan Fraser is set to take part in yet another DC project, Batgirl, starring opposite Leslie Grace. According to Deadline‘s report, Fraser will play Firefly. The film will focus on Barbara Gordon, the daughter of Gotham City Police Department’s Commissioner Gordon.
Firefly made his comic debut in Detective Comics #184. Upon his initial appearances, he was originally portrayed as a villain that used lighting effects to commit heists. He was later reimagined as a sociopathic character who is a pyromaniac.
Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are directing Batgirl, which just made an appearance at this year’s DC FanDome where the duo confirmed that they are working to make Grace’s Gordon as comic accurate as possible.
Specific plot details are unknown at the time, however, this is one of the first times in generations that Batgirl will have a live-action appearance instead of an animated one.
Fraser has had quite a resurgence on social media as of late. Most recently starring in Steven Soderbergh’s No Sudden Move, Fraser was also tapped to play in Killers of the Flower Moon and Brothers.
