The series launched Marvel’s post-Infinity Saga Phase 4 after multiple pandemic delays of other projects. It was met with acclaim from viewers and critics alike. Focusing instead on Wanda Maximoff’s grief, and not a supervillain, WandaVision brought a new level of depth to the highly criticized superhero genre.

On top of its new take on heroes, the series was also a love letter to previous eras of television. Eight of the nine episodes traveled from the 50s up through the 2010s, each one matching the aesthetic and acting style of each of those generations. The sets, acting, music, and costumes all evolved effortlessly through these eras, which was no easy feat.

WandaVision is nominated for 23 Emmy Awards, bringing the Marvel Cinematic Universe its most ever award nominations and its first at the Emmys. They will air Sunday, September 19 at 8 p.m. EST on CBS.
