The Lost Daughter is heading to Netflix! The drama film starring Olivia Colman is based on the novel by Elena Ferrante. It is also Maggie Gyllenhaal’s directorial debut. The story follows Leda, a recent empty-nester forced to confront her past during a seaside holiday.

The Lost Daughter is Paul Mescal’s first film. The actor recently won a television BAFTA for his breakthrough role in Normal People. Jessie Buckley, Dakota Johnson, Peter Sarsgaard, Paul Mescal, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, and Ed Harris also star. There is no word yet on a release date, but Netflix has announced that the film will premiere at Venice Film Festival.
