‘The Power of the Dog’ Starring Benedict Cumberbatch Showing at Venice Film Festival
Netflix’s The Power of the Dog starring Benedict Cumberbatch is set to make its world premiere in competition at the Venice Film Festival.
Written and directed by Jane Campion, The Power of the Dog follows a pair of brothers who own a large ranch in Montana who are pitted against each other when one of them gets married.
The film will also be featured as the Centerpiece selection for the 59th New York Film Festival on October 1.
Based on the novel of the same name by Thomas Savage, it stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Phil Burbank, Kirsten Dunst as Rose, Jesse Plemons as George Burbank, Thomasin McKenzie as Lola, Kodi Smit-McPhee as Peter, Keith Carradine as Governor Edward, and Francis Conroy.
The Venice Film Festival will run from September 1-11. You can view the entire lineup of films showing at the festival here.
The Power of the Dog has no official release date yet but is expected sometime in 2021 on Netflix.
