Netflix Original Anime Series ‘Trese’ Available to Stream June 10, Stars Darren Criss, Lou Diamond Phillips

Netflix has released the official trailer and first-look images for its highly anticipated Netflix Original Anime series Trese, based on the Philippine graphic novel created by Budjette Tan and KaJO Baldisimo. Available to stream on June 10, Trese is described by Netflix as follows:

Set in a Manila where the mythical creatures of Philippine folklore live in hiding amongst humans, Alexandra Trese finds herself going head to head with a criminal underworld comprised of malevolent supernatural beings.

Netflix also revealed the English language and Filipino language voice casts of Trese. In the English language version, Shay Mitchell (YOU, Pretty Little Liars) provides the voice for main character Alexandra Trese. Darren Criss (The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story), Lou Diamond Phillips (Prodigal Son, La Bamba), Nicole Scherzinger (Moana), Manny Jacinto (The Good Place), Jon Jon Briones (Ratched), and Dante Basco (Avatar: The Last Airbender) are also part of the star-studded voice cast.

Filipino actress Liza Soberano (My Ex and Whys, Alone/Together) will voice Alexandra Trese in the Filipino language version of the series and will be joined by local professional voice talents Simon dela Cruz (as Crispin and Basilio), Apollo Abraham (Captain Guerrero), Christopher Carlo Caling (Hank), Christian Velarde (Nuno), and Eugene Adalia (Anton Trese). Well-respected Filipino Language Voice Artist Director Rudolf Baldonado will direct the local voice talents.

Written by Tanya Yuson, Zig Marasigan, Mihk Vergara and directed by Jay Oliva (Justice League Dark, The Legend of Korra), all six episodes of Trese will be released at once on June 10. Stay tuned here as more information about this exciting series is released in the coming weeks.
