Fans awaiting Paul Schrader’s upcoming crime drama The Card Counter are in luck, because the release date has finally been announced — the Focus Features film will land in theaters later this year on September 10.

Written and directed by Schrader (Taxi Driver, Raging Bull), The Card Counter stars Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewyn Davis, Star Wars) as Tell, a man who just wants to play cards. However, his spartan existence on the casino trail is shattered when he is approached by Cirk (Tye Sheridan, Mud), a vulnerable and angry young man seeking help to execute his plan for revenge on a military colonel (Willem Dafoe, At Eternity’s Gate). Tell sees a chance at redemption through his relationship with Cirk. But keeping Cirk on the straight-and-narrow proves impossible, dragging Tell back into the darkness of his past. Tiffany Haddish (Girls Trip) also stars in this revenge thriller as well.

The Card Counter is produced by Braxton Pope, Lauren Mann, and David Wulf, and executive produced by Martin Scorsese.
