The Gossip Girl reboot at HBO Max has finally received a premiere date! The series, once again based on the book by Cecily von Ziegesar, will follow a new group of teens eight years after the original which starred Blake Lively, Ed Westwick, Leighton Meester, Chace Crawford, and Penn Badgley. We will see the teens as they make it through life at their New York private school. The series will also address the changes between social media and the New York scene that have taken place since the conclusion of Gossip Girl. The show will officially premiere in July, with no word if the episodes will drop episodically or all at once for fans to fully indulge.
The HBO Max series stars Thomas Doherty as Max Wolfe, Emily Alyn Lind as Audrey Hope, Eli Brown as Otto “Obie” Bergmann IV, Whitney Peak as Zoya Lott, Jordan Alexander as Julien Calloway, Savannah Lee Smith as Monet de Haan, Tavi Gevinson as Kate Keller, Evan Mock as Akeno “Aki” Menzies, and Zion Moreno as Luna La. Elizabeth Lail (You) has also been cast though not much is known about her role.
Although the show welcomes many new faces, there are few recognizable ones attached — Kristen Bell will reprise her role as the iconic voice of Gossip Girl, Josh Safran will return as showrunner, and Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage are returning as executive producers.
