Elizabeth Lail (You, Once Upon a Time) is gearing up to star in two new projects, according to Deadline. Lail will star in Mack & Rita opposite Diane Keaton and the Gossip Girl reboot at HBO Max.
In the romantic comedy Mack & Rita, Lail will play Mackenzie Martin, tired of having to do things to get ahead in her 30s. She’s had the aspiration of being just like her Grammie Martin — comfortable with the way she is, good at saying “no,” and not caring what people may think of her.
On a trip to Palm Springs for her best friend’s bachelorette party, she uncovers a sound bath regression pod. She enters and comes out a 70-year-old woman. This causes her to face the reality of self-acceptance and that it comes from within, and there is no age limit on it.
In Gossip Girl, it’s unknown at the time who she’s set to play, but she joins a talented cast that includes Thomas Doherty, Jordan Alexander, Julien Calloway, Evan Mock, Eli Brown, Emily Alyn Lind, Savannah Lee Smith, Tavi Gevinson, Whitney Peak, and Zion Moreno.
Much like the original, which starred Blake Lively, Ed Westwick, Leighton Meester, Chace Crawford, Penn Badgley, and Taylor Momsen, among others, the series is based on the book by Cecily von Ziegesar. It will follow a new group of teens eight years after the conclusion of the original, watching them navigate their lives at their New York private school. The series will address the changes between social media and the New York scene.
