We can hardly believe that it has been 10 years since the crazy journey that was the Game of Thrones series began!
HBO and HBO Max are definitely celebrating in style with so much that will be going on during the month-long event. There will also be special anniversary merchandise available.
HBO Max has a brand new Game of Thrones Spotlight Page. The page includes lots of curations for fans, including introductions to the world, characters and Easter eggs. It also includes over 150 behind-the-scenes videos, cast interviews, trailers and clips.
Starting April 10, HBO and Game of Thrones cast members will be encouraging fans to participate in the “MaraThrone.” The challenge is to binge watch all 73 episodes of the series whilst raising money for select global charities including Women for Women International, UNICEF and The Trevor Project. All episodes of season one will be aired on HBO2 at 10 a.m. ET.
HBO will also be surprising three couples that were married in Game of Thrones inspired ceremonies with anniversary gifts. The gifts will include branded barrels of wine, custom chalices and elaborate cakes.
What would any celebration be without some amazing merchandise? Mikkeller, the Danish craft beer company, are launching a range of beers including the “Iron Anniversary IPA,” inspired by the series. The “Game Of Thrones: Complete Collection” was released late last year in 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD. A one-of-a-kind Imperial egg inspired by Daenerys Targaryen has been co-designed by Fabergé and series costume designer, Michele Clapton.
There will also be a new range of Funko Pop!s released to celebrate the anniversary. These will include many fan-favorite characters and some in new iron-texture. These are available for pre-order now at Funko and a range of other retailers.
This month will be great for fans to relive the excitement of the series all over again. It will also get fans even more excited about the upcoming House of the Dragon prequel series that will hopefully be gracing our screens soon, with production beginning this year.
