Dakota Fanning Joins Showtime’s ‘Ripley’ With Andrew Scott and Johnny Flynn

Dakota Fanning has been announced as the newest lead of Ripley, Showtime’s new adaptation of the classic novels. She joins Andrew Scott as the title character, a charismatic con man who slowly finds himself transforming into his latest target with dark consequences. Fanning will play Marge Sherwood, an American expat who begins to suspect that Ripley isn’t all he seems. Johnny Flynn (Emma) will play Dickie Greenleaf, Ripley’s target, a rich man wasting his parent’s money in Italy as he finds himself caught in Ripley’s crosshairs.

The character of Ripley has appeared on screen before in the acclaimed film The Talented Mr. Ripley, which starred Matt Damon as Ripley, Gwyneth Paltrow as Marge, and Jude Law as Dickie. The new series will film in Italy and will be written and directed by Steve Zaillian.
