Award season is upon us, and it’s safe to say that pandemic or not, 2020 was a year chock full of excellent films. Most recently were the National Board of Review honors. Several notable films went home with awards, and leading the charge is Spike Lee’s war drama Da 5 Bloods.

Da 5 Bloods earned three honors total: Best Director, Best Ensemble, and Best Film of 2020. The late Chadwick Boseman, who played squad leader Stormin’ Norman in the film, also earned the NBR Icon Award.

Da 5 Bloods follows a group of four friends and Vietnam War vets who return to the country years later in search of the remains of their squad leader and a chest of gold they buried. It stars Delroy Lindo, Jonathan Majors, Isiah Whitlock Jr., Clarke Peters, Norm Lewis, and Chadwick Boseman.

Earlier this month, Lindo and Majors talked with Variety about working with Spike Lee, bonding on set, and more. Watch their conversation with Variety’s Jenelle Riley here. Make sure to stream Da 5 Bloods now on Netflix.
