We first found out that John Cena would be playing the DC superhero Peacemaker in the upcoming second Suicide Squad movie. Shortly after that, it was announced that HBO Max would be doing a series around Peacemaker’s origin.
Cena (Bumblebee) will be reprising his role as the hero that wants peace so badly that he is willing to use violence to get it. Wait. What? Joining him is Steve Agee (Superstore) as John Economos/King Shark, also coming over from The Suicide Squad.
It has been announced that Danielle Brooks (Orange is the New Black) is going to be Leota Adebayo, Robert Patrick (Perry Mason) will be Auggie Smith, Jennifer Holland (Brightburn) is going to reprise her role as Emilia Harcourt, and Chris Conrad (Patriot) is going to be joining in the fun and chaos as vigilante/Adrian Chase. James Gunn has penned all eight episodes of the first season and is said to be directing quite a few as well. Peter Safran (Aquaman) will be executive producing Peacemaker alongside Gunn.
Currently, Peacemaker has no set date to premiere, but you can see Cena’s character in The Suicide Squad set to release in 2021.
