During New York Comic Con today, CBS Studios and Nickelodeon surprised fans with the announcement that Kate Mulgrew, who starred as Captain Kathryn Janeway in Star Trek: Voyager, will not only be returning to the Star Trek universe but will also reprise her role! Mulgrew will star in Star Trek: Prodigy, the upcoming animated series at Nickelodeon and will bring her character to life in a new way that will satisfy and inspire new and old fans alike.
In a statement that Mulgrew made during the occasion, she said:
I have invested every scintilla of my being in Captain Janeway, and I can’t wait to endow her with nuance that I never did before in Star Trek: Prodigy. How thrilling to be able to introduce to these young minds an idea that has elevated the world for decades. To be at the helm again is going to be deeply gratifying in a new way for me.
