San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital is getting some new residents. ABC’s medical drama, The Good Doctor, has tapped Dear Even Hansen star Noah Galvin, newcomer Summer Brown, Bria Samoné Henderson (Mrs. America), and The Kill Team‘s Brian Marc to recur in a major storyline that will span the entire fourth season Deadline exclusively reported.
The four will be introduced in the third episode of the season and will play first-year residents who will be vying for positions at St. Bonaventure. They will be supervised by the hospital’s fourth-year residents, Dr. Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore), Dr. Claire Brown (Antonia Thomas), and Dr. Alex Park (Will Yun Lee).
The character descriptions are as follows: Galvin is set to play Dr. Asher Wolke; “Formerly part of an orthodox Jewish sect, Asher made the choice to separate himself from his former beliefs before deciding to go to medical school”. Brown will play Dr. Olivia Jackson, “a Harvard and Oxford graduate who is oddly insecure for someone with her stellar academic credentials”, Henderson will portray Dr. Jordan Allen, “a committed and faithful Baptist who finds strength and comfort from daily prayer. She cares for her patients – but cares even more about building her career. Not just her medical career”, and Marc will portray Dr. Enrique “Ricky” Guerin, “a surfer but definitely not a slacker when it comes to his medical career. He has embraced the philosophy that ‘Experiences are more valuable than assets'”.
The season four premiere will tackle not only the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic but also the aftermath of the death of surgical attending Dr. Neil Melendez due to the earthquake in the season three finale. Season 4 production has begun in Vancouver.
Season four of The Good Doctor is set to premiere on Monday, November 2 at 10 p.m. ET/9 p.m. CT on ABC. The first three seasons are now streaming on Hulu.
