Zac Efron to Star in ‘Firestarter’ Reboot at Blumhouse

 Zac Efron, who was recently confirmed to be starring in Disney+’s Three Men and a Baby, is now confirmed to star in the Firestarter reboot at Universal Pictures, Blumhouse, and Weed Road Pictures based on Stephen King’s classic novel. Firestarter follows a young girl who develops pyrokinetic abilities and ends up being abducted by a secret government agency that wants to harness her gift and use it as a powerful weapon.

Keith Thomas is set to direct the adaption to be written by Scott Teems (who will also serve as an executive producer). Jason Blum and Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind) will produce alongside Martha De Laurentiis (1984’s Firestarter) who is set to executive produce.
