Fans of the classic YA series Uglies have long awaited a film adaptation of the novels, and it seems their patience is finally being rewarded! Deadline exclusively announced that Joey King will star in and produce a film adaptation of Uglies that will be directed by McG for Netflix. Uglies follows the story of Tally Youngblood, who lives in a world in which everyone undergoes compulsory plastic surgery to turn them from “Ugly” to “Pretty” at age 16.

The first novel was published in 2005, with three sequels and a companion series titled Imposters. There is no word yet on a release date or any additional casting for the film.
