It’s going to be a family affair in the new Walker series on The CW! Deadline has exclusively confirmed that Genevieve Padalecki will be joining her husband, Jared, in a recurring role on his new series as none other than his late wife. Padalecki will be playing Emily, “Walker’s strong, capable and generous late wife who is brave and focused on helping the disenfranchised. Appearing in flashback, Emily is a grounded and authentic hero in the Walker family.”

Aside from her season-long stint as Ruby 2.0 in Supernatural‘s fourth season where she met her soon-to-be husband, Padalecki also starred in ABC Family’s 2005 drama series Wildfire and had a recurring role on ABC’s FlashForward.

Walker is set in Austin and will be filmed there as well, making it easy for the Padaleckis since they live in the Texas city. Supernatural recently wrapped filming after 15 seasons and according to Deadline, Walker is currently eyeing a mid-October production start in Austin.

Walker is set to debut during midseason 2021 on The CW, appropriately taking over Supernatural‘s timeslot on Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT.
