The Haunting of Bly Manor — brought to you by the creator of The Haunting of Hill House, Mike Flanagan — finally has a teaser trailer.
Bly Manor is the second part of Flanagan’s horror anthology series, serving as an adaption of Henry James’ 1898 horror novella — The Turn of the Screw. However, those familiar with the aforementioned story will find that this series diverges from that of James’ novel. Bly Manor will actually piece together a wide variety of the author’s ghost stories, all of which will be thematically linked (as stated by Flanagan in an interview with Games Radar).
Though this story is entirely separate from that of Hill House, Bly Manor will feature a handful of familiar faces in new roles, such as Victoria Pedretti, Henry Thomas, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Kate Siegel, and Catherine Parker. New faces will include the likes of T’Nia Miller, Rahul Kohli, Amelia Eve, Benjamin Ainsworth, Amelie Smith, and Tahirah Sharif.
Set in 1980s England, Bly Manor follows the story of a young American nanny (Pedretti) who is hired by Henry Wingrave (Thomas) to care for his orphaned niece and nephew (Smith, Ainsworth) following their au pair’s tragic death. The children reside at Bly Manor, accompanied by the estate’s chef Owen (Kohli), the groundskeeper Jamie (Eve), and the housekeeper Mrs. Grose (Miller). Dark secrets of love and loss await within the walls of Bly Manor, a place where all is not as it seems.
Check out the chilling trailer below, though be forewarned you may want to watch it with the lights on! Similar to its predecessor, it appears Bly Manor will once again expertly weave drama and horror together into an eerie, ominous, and emotional cinematic experience.
In case you missed it, the official poster and first stills were released last week.
In addition to the reveal of the teaser trailer, the premiere date has also been announced. The Haunting of Bly Manor will arrive on Netflix on October 9.
