Musician Sara Bareilles is joining the cast of Girls5eva, reuniting her with Tina Fey (Wine Country) again for the first time since she appeared on 30 Rock. The comedy from Meredith Scardino (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) will be on Peacock produced by Fey and Robert Carlock (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt).
Bareilles will portray former Girls5eva band member Dawn, who has been managing her family’s Italian restaurant in Queens since the band broke up. When asked about the plot of the series in a Deadline article, Fey said,
It’s the story of a former ’90s girl group — all of whom have been engaged to Carson Daly — who decide to risk everything and get the band back together. In a way, that is what Peacock is doing — getting the band back together.
