‘Avatar 2’ Delayed One Year to December 2022

Director James Cameron has confirmed that Avatar 2 is delayed.

The long-awaited sequel to the second highest-grossing film of all time, Avatar, has been delayed one year due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. Originally set to release on December 17, 2021, it will now be released December 16, 2022. As a result, the entire five-film franchise will be bumped back one year, with the final installment scheduled for December 2028.

Disney has recently pushed back many of their upcoming theatrical releases, including Mulan, which now has no release confirmed, The Last Duel starring Adam Driver and Jodie Comer has moved to October 2021, and a new untitled Star Wars trilogy which will now begin with the first debuting on December 22, 2023 and concluding on December 17, 2027.

Following the delay of Avatar 2, Sony moved their third Spider-Man installment starring Tom Holland back one month from November 15, 2021 to December 17, 2021.
