A limited series adaption of the classic Swedish Television miniseries, Scenes from a Marriage, is coming to HBO.

The 1973 version, written and directed by Ingmar Bergman, chronicles the disintegration of a marriage over a span of 10 years as couple Marianne and Johan struggle with love and turmoil in the midst of matrimony, infidelity, divorce, and subsequent partners. HBO’s adaption, which is to be written, directed, and executive produced by Hagai Levi (Our Boys, The Affair), will shed a new light on these trials and tribulations of marriage through the experiences of a contemporary American couple.

Taking on the leading roles are Oscar Isaac and Michelle Williams, both of whom will also be executive producers on the project as well.

Other executive producers will include Michael Ellenberg (via Media Res), Lars Blomgren (The Bridge), Daniel Bergman (son of Ingmar Bergman), and Blair Breard (Baskets).

Stay tuned for more information on this upcoming adaption of Scenes from a Marriage.
