One of The CW’s newest series for 2020 was Riverdale spin-off Katy Keene, starring former Pretty Little Liar Lucy Hale and Riverdale‘s own Ashleigh Murray. The series was set five years in the future and followed Josie McCoy as she journeyed to New York to pursue her dreams of becoming a recording artist, befriending and rooming with aspiring fashion designer Katy Keene, drag queen Jorge Lopez, and entrepreneur Pepper Smith. The drama had many musical moments and romantic plots and was almost like Riverdale, minus the murder and dark storylines. However, it just wasn’t enough to keep the song and dance going.

TVLine reports that after just one season, The CW has surprisingly given Katy Keene the boot. The series had its season 1, and now series, finale in May, bringing the show’s run to a total of 13 episodes. It included appearances from familiar Riverdale faces, including Sierra McCoy, Kevin Keller, and Hiram Lodge. Even though fans won’t be able to see the Fab Four on new adventures, with Riverdale reportedly getting a time jump early on in its upcoming season, it could mean they’d catch up to Katy Keene‘s timeline. Maybe the Fab Four and Core Four will cross paths, but until then, it’s just a mystery what Katy, Josie, Pepper, and Jorge will be up to.

Katy Keene is available to stream on HBO Max and for free on The CW app.
