Tom Ellis Officially Signs on for Possible Sixth Season of ‘Lucifer’
We are one major step closer to getting one of our favorite shows renewed, Lucifer fans: Tom Ellis has recently signed on for a sixth season (as exclusively reported by TVLine)! This comes after weeks of contract negotiations between Ellis and Warner Bros. Television, and almost certainly ensures the continuation of the series despite no official announcement as of yet. The upcoming fifth season was advertised as the last, but in February Netflix expressed a desire to continue Lucifer’s story and consequently signed deals with the showrunners, Ildy Modrovich and Joe Henderson, shortly after.
Lucifer is no stranger to having its run extended — it was canceled after three seasons on Fox but was later picked up by Netflix after an overwhelming “#SaveLucifer” campaign from distraught fans. Hopefully everyone can take some comfort in this newest development that their beloved show is likely to return. While there is still no official release date for season 5, having the strong potential for a sixth season does bring a little solace to our wait.
