With the premiere of Hulu’s historical comedy series The Great less than a month away, the streaming service has released a new trailer! The series, based on the life of legendary Russian monarch Catherine the Great and stars Elle Fanning as the cunning Empress alongside Nicholas Hoult as her idiotic husband. The farcical show follows Catherine’s efforts to remake Russia to her liking as she must deal with the oddities and scheming in the Russian royal court. It is written by Tony McNamara, who was a co-writer on the Oscar-nominated film The Favourite that was a similar satire of royalty (and also starred Nicholas Hoult).

Starring alongside Fanning and Hoult are Phoebe Fox, Adam Godley, Gwilym Lee, Charity Wakefield, Douglas Hodge, Sacha Dhawan, Sebastian de Souza, Bayo Gbadamosi, and Belinda Bromilow. It premieres on Hulu on May 15. Check out the new trailer below!
