Leverage is back baby! IMDb TV, Amazon’s free, ad-supported streaming service, has ordered a 13-episode reboot of the beloved crime drama series Leverage. The series will be headlined with Noah Wyle, who starred in ER and The Librarians, presumably coming in as “The Brians” to lead our favorite criminals. Three of the original cast members, Beth Riesgraf (Parker), Gina Bellman (Sophie Devereaux), and Christian Kane (Eliot Spencer) will be returning as series regulars in their roles. Aldis Hodge (Alec Hardison) will also be coming in as a recurring role, due to him also appearing in the Showtime series City on a Hill. Original star Timothy Hutton will not be returning in his role as Nathan Ford.
The show is the first major series for IMDb TV and will give us a fresh renovation of the original show that followed a team of reformed crooks using their unique skills in a Robin Hood manner to right the wrongs and injustices of corporate and government companies and saving ordinary citizens.
Originally, the show ran on TNT from 2008-2012 with a total of 77 episodes before it was unfortunately cancelled. One of the executive producers and directors from the original show, Dean Devlin, is returning to lead the new series. The original creators, Chris Downey and John Rogers, will be coming on board as executive producers as well.
You can watch the original series through IMDb TV. It is an app on FireTV and a free channel through Amazon Prime Video and on IMDb apps. The series will tentatively begin filming in late June-early July in Louisiana as they follow local and state rules on safety regarding the Coronavirus.
