Lin-Manuel Miranda is making his feature directorial debut with tick, tick… BOOM!, a Netflix adaptation of the autobiographical 0ff-Broadway show by Jonathan Larson. For those not in the know, shortly after writing tick, tick… BOOM! Larson wrote the hit Broadway show Rent, but sadly died the day before Rent had its off-Broadway debut. Thus, he never knew the success of the show, being the 11th longest running show in Broadway history. Steven Levenson, who wrote hit show Dear Evan Hansen, will be adapting Larsen’s original stage script for the screen.

In tick, tick… BOOM! Andrew Garfield will play Jon, an ambitious playwright working as a waiter while he writes a show called Superbia. Jon is hoping that this will be the show that will give him his big break. He is feeling the pressure around him; his girlfriend Susan getting more and more tired of putting her own life on hold for Jon’s career. His best friend Michael is giving up on his own creative dreams and instead taking a job in advertisement. As Jon is approaching his 30th birthday, he is starting to wonder if his dreams truly are impossible to achieve.

With so many incredibly talented people already associated with the movie, we can be certain that there will be great things ahead. There is currently no release date, but just from what we know so far, this movie will be worth waiting for!
