After nearly 20 years, Epcot’s World Showcase Lagoon night show IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth is taking a final bow on September 30 and being replaced with the new Epcot Forever nighttime spectacular. To celebrate, Disney Parks Blog will stream the opening show live on Tuesday, October 1 beginning at 8:50 p.m. ET.
Disney’s Epcot Forever promises fireworks, lasers, fountains, and — something we’ve never seen before — kites. Special-effect kites. As Alan Bruun, the Senior Director of Epcot Forever, said, “We might have a couple of kites. We might light ‘em up. It’s a nighttime spectacular!”
Walt Disney World’s landing page for Epcot Forever paints a pretty picture:
“Behold the single ‘spark of imagination’ that started it all. Watch it grow, evolve and transform into an epic nighttime extravaganza that stirs the senses and captures all you love about Epcot—and all that’s to come—with dazzling fireworks, stunning laser effects and choreographed kites set to tunes that have become theme park favorites.”
