First Guests Announced For Drag World U.K.
This summer, London will become host to Europe’s biggest celebration of drag culture for the third time in a row. Drag World U.K. will be held at Olympia, London August 17 through 18 and the first guests were announced last week. The first queens joining the undoubtedly extravagant line-up are Drag Race season 5 finalist and All Stars 2 winner Alaska 5000 and season 7 participant and All Stars 3 winner Trixie Mattel.
Drag World gives fans in Europe the possibility to meet their favorite queens from RuPaul’s Emmy-award-winning show, see them in panel discussions, or watch them perform. Furthermore, there are a number of local drag queens joining the line-up (like the U.K. favorite, Charity Kase), as well as various vendors who not only sell merchandise, but also other drag queen essentials such as make up, wigs, and costumes.
In 2018, the line up for Drag World was star-studded with former winners and fan favorites including Alaska, Jujubee, Jinx Monsoon, Farrah Moan, Courtney Act, and Katya of RuPaul’s Drag Race as well as local talent. And even if you were not busy queuing for meet and greets or sitting in panels, the sheer creativity and celebration of this colorful community were a joy to witness.
Now in 2019, the event will undergo a few changes, taking into account the constant growth of the audience interested in the famous TV show as well as drag culture in general. Last year, over 17,000 people attended the convention with more expected this year. Fans will still have a chance to meet their favorite queens at their specially designed booths and will be able to take pictures with them there or at the designated meet and greets.
With more queens to be announced in the coming months, Drag World U.K. is likely to grow and become more popular, so do not hesitate to buy your tickets early.
