Disney Celebrates 30 Years of ‘The Little Mermaid’ by Launching Instagram

Disney is gearing up to celebrate 30 years of one of it’s most beloved films, The Little Mermaid. The Little Mermaid debuted back in November 1989, and captured hearts everywhere with it’s loveable characters and inspirational music.

Ariel, the mermaid, wants to “be where the people are” and defies her father by making a deal with the Sea Witch, Ursula, so that she may have legs and go on land, wanting to see Prince Eric, who she rescued from a shipwreck and fell in love with. The one stipulation, however, is that Ariel loses her voice and must receive a “true love’s kiss” within three days from Eric (and then remain human), or she’ll return a mermaid and belong to Ursula forever.

Jodi Benson played Ariel, with Christopher Daniel Barnes as Prince Eric and Pat Carroll as Ursula, with music by the legendary Alan Menken.
