So far in 2018, we have seen some fantastic games released, and it shows no sign of slowing down.  Regardless of the gaming platform you use–Play Station 4 (PS4), Xbox One (XBO), Nintendo Switch (NS), Computer (PC) etc–there is a game for you to enjoy.

To keep track of the video games coming out, here is a list of anticipated October releases.

October 2:

Forza Horizon 4 (XBO, PC)

Set in a fictionalized United Kingdom, users race in different weather and terrains. There are over 450 cars to choose from that can be customized to go with players’ avatars. Once that is done it’s time to race and build a reputation. By doing that players gain points that can be used later on to add things to their cars or trade their cars in.  Players can drive around, street/drag race, stunt drive, or open a shop and rent out cars.

Mega Man 11 (PS4, XBO, PC, NS)

Players control Mega Man as he tries to put a stop to Dr. Wily from using what Dr. Light created with previous research. There are eight stages where players battle a robot master at each stage including Acid Man, Tundra Man and Bounce Man. Mega Man has his classic movies but can get new weapons when he wins against the robot masters.

Additional features will include missions, time trials, concept art gallery, and leaderboard. There are also 4 difficulty settings newcomer, casual, normal, and superhero. Mega Man is developed and published by Capcom.

The Surge: The Good, the Bad, and the Augmented (PC, PS4, XBO)

Searching in an abandoned lab in the CREO facility the player fights and eventually trains in the mad scientist Dr. Rischboter’s test office. The player must complete their training in the Wild West-looking rooms to get the rewards. At the end of each section there is a battle with a tough enemy called Challengers, but when the player wins they get weapons and armor as a reward.

October 5:

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey (PS4, XBO, PC)

Set in 431 BCE Ancient Greece before what happens in Assassin’s Creed Origins, the player chooses which side to be a mercenary for. There are quests that have many different endings and skill trees to unlock new abilities. The main character can either be Alexios or Kassandra, they can also have non-playable character relationships with either gender. This is the 12th game in the series.

Super Mario Party (NS)

Toad is the party host taking the user through the game. There are many modes to choose from like game mode, party mode, Challenge Road, Toad’s Rec Room and more. One thing that is back is the 4-player board game mode to play.  With over 80 mini-games the player can test their skills and try to win Stars and coins.

October 9:

WWE 2K19 (PS4, XBO, NS, PC)

The game will have the 2K showcase mode focusing on Daniel Bryan’s career; this is the first time since 2K17 this feature has been seen. It will have 11 matches in Bryan’s style, like the Velocity match against John Cena plus a surprise match. The My Career mode focuses on a character of choice or created as the player starts their wrestling journey. There are over 200 stars and legends from WWE and NXT to choose.  When the game is preordered it comes with two bonus special characters, Rey Mysterio and Ronda Rousey.

October 12:

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 (PS4, XBO, PC)

Don’t forget to “watch your six” in this game. This Black Ops game has options for multiplayer combat, zombies, and blackout.  In multiplayer the user is doing ground combat making them focus on choices and tactics but they can also do solo missions. With new characters, the user can go through all three zombie experiences. Finally, in the blackout, it is a battle royale with the biggest map in the game’s series. Some locations on the map are Titanic, Ancient Rome, and Alcatraz.

October 16:

Lego DC Super Villains (PS4, XBO, PC, NS)

The Joker, Harley Quinn, Lex Luthor and others from the Injustice League are character options for the first time in this game. The player can be their worst as they fight, do puzzles, obstacles and more since the Justice League is missing and only the Justice Syndicate is around.

Warriors Orochi 4 (PS4, XBO, NS, PC)

Tracking down eight powerful and magical bracelets are the key to saving the characters’ world and dimensions. During this search, the user discovers that the thunder God Zeus is behind it all.  In five chapters with over seventy missions, the players fight with allies and Gods to stop Zeus.

NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 (PC, PS4, XBO, NS)

In this arcade-style basketball game, players have over 400 hundred NBA players like Dr. J, Michael Jordan, and Ben Simmons. It includes three-point contests, custom matches, new courts and more.  It all takes place on the courts in the street.

October 19:

Dark Souls Trilogy (PS4, XBO)

Combines Dark Souls Remastered, Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin and Dark Souls 3: Fire Fades Edition.

October 23:

Just Dance 2019 (PS4, XBO, NS)

A dancing game to current music like “Havana” by Camila Cabello, “Mad Love” by Sean Paul, David Guetta and Becky G, “New Rules” by Dua Lipa and more.  Can you do all the dance steps?

Marvel’s Spider-Man DLC 1: The Heist (PS4)

This is the first downloadable content (DLC) pack for the Spider-Man game featuring Felicia Hardy as the Black Cat.  There is still not a lot of information about it yet.

October 26:

Red Dead Redemption 2 (PS4, XBO)

In this western adventure game set in 1899 following outlaw Arthur Morgan of the Dutch Van der Kinde gang, they are forced to flee the town they lived in because of a robbery gone wrong. All the player’s actions affect how they do in the game, with the gang and the citizens during the player’s choice of being on their own or staying with the gang.  Where will your loyalties lie?

October 30:

Mutant Football League: Dynasty Edition (PS4, XBO, NS)

This is an extreme 7-on-7 football game where all the players are monsters, skeletons, aliens, robots and other beings. The football field is filled with traps, landmines, and obstacles making touchdowns very difficult, especially if the referee has been bribed by the other team.

Lego Harry Potter Collection (XBO, NS)

Players get the games Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 and Lego Harry Potter: Years 5-7 in this one collection, filled with spell-casting, potion-making, solving puzzles, fighting, and lessons.  This game lets users relive the eight films while exploring Hogwarts.
