Sundance Now’s critically-acclaimed series This Close is coming back for season two!
Entertainment Tonight dropped the news this morning that the series, written by and starring Supernatural alumna Shoshannah Stern and writer Josh Feldman, was renewed by Sundance Now for an eight-episode second season set to premiere in 2019.
The series centers around long-time best friends Kate (Stern), a newly-engaged publicist, and Michael (Feldman), a gay graphic novelist trying to move on from his ex-fiance, both of whom are deaf. The show explores their relationship as well as their relationships with others in their lives, such as Kate’s fiance Danny (Zach Gilford), Michael’s ex-fiance Ryan (Colt Prattes), and Kate’s boss Stella (Cheryl Hines) and navigating life.
“Making the first season of This Close was a dream come true,” Stern and Feldman said in a statement. “We couldn’t have done this without our brilliant team, and are thrilled to dive back into this story. We never anticipated the response to the show from our audience, which was beyond our wildest expectations and is the very reason we get to continue telling Kate and Michael’s stories.”
