Deadline has revealed that QCode’s hit podcast series Blackout is officially returning for a second season, and Rami Malek (Bohemian Rhapsody, Mr. Robot) will reprise his role as Simon Itani. Aja Naomi King (How to Get Away with Murder) will also join the cast for season 2, though her specific role has not yet been released.
Blackout is an apocalyptic thriller that follows Simon, a small-town radio DJ fighting to protect his family and community after the nationwide power grid goes down and upends modern civilization.
Blackout was created by Scott Conroy, who will executive produce the upcoming season along with Malek, QCode, and Endeavor Content. Jeremy Novick will serve as writer and will co-direct with Stef Abel Horowitz.
Season 2 is slated to release early this summer. Season 1 is available to listen here.
