Jennifer Akerman, also known as Final Child, has released her latest single off her upcoming second album, Monster, and unsurprisingly it’s another amazing bop! “When You’re Not Around” was inspired by her relationship with husband Tom Payne, an actor who is often away to film. Of the new single, Akerman shared, “I wrote and finished this song in one evening at my studio in LA. My husband was working in New York, family overseas and I was left feeling very empty, lonely. Emotions just came pouring out of me.”
We’ve already been graced with two other songs from Monster, “Dead Romance” and “Monster,” which are both the kind of dark and sexy song that make you want to dance and will be stuck in your head for days at a time. “When You’re Around” maintains the same haunting sound fans will recognize from the previous two tracks but carries its own unique elements. Catchy hooks and urban beats marry perfectly with raw lyrics telling her truth.
While Monster doesn’t have a release date yet, Akerman has shared the 12 song track list which is full of intriguingly named songs I can’t wait to hear. “When You’re Not Around” is available to download wherever you listen to music and for streaming on all platforms now, so check it out!
