New York Comic Con 2025: Crunchyroll Launches New Manga App

Share

Crunchyroll is becoming a one-stop shop for all things anime and manga.

The new manga app, which is separate from the flagship Crunchyroll app, launched on October 9, including titles from multiple publishers. AlphaPolis, COMPASS, Square Enix, VIZ Media, and Yen Press all have titles available, additional partners like Shueisha and J-Novel Club will follow.

Subscription options vary, with different tiers for the manga app. Access to the manga app is included for Ultimate members ($15.99/month). Prices are as follows:

Crunchyroll Fan + Manga – $11.99 USD / $15.49 CAD per month (includes Manga add-on at $4.00 USD / $5.50 CAD)

Crunchyroll Mega Fan + Manga – $15.49 USD / $17.49 CAD per month (includes Manga add-on at $3.50 USD / $5.00 CAD)

The experience is ad-free regardless of subscription tier. Mega Fan and Ultimate include discounts at the Crunchyroll store, too!

We were able to get a hands-on experience with the new app at New York Comic Con, and its clean interface was the first notable feature. If you have a subscription tier that allows for multiple profiles, each of them transfers over to the new app, allowing each user to curate their own reading lists, download chapters for offline reading, and get personalized recommendations.

As someone who has multiple apps for different titles, I was thrilled to see some of my currently reading series all under one digital roof (The Apothecary Diaries and Haikyu!! in one place!). There are three manga readers in my house, so the fact that I will no longer be spoiled by reading a chapter after someone else is also a major plus for this app. Gone are the days of seeing the last page first and groaning about why we couldn’t just scroll it back to the beginning.

Reading is unlimited with the subscription, and no additional fees for newly released chapters (you don’t have to buy coins or points or whatever other variation of micro-purchase moniker). It’s simplified finding ways to read the manga behind your favorite anime, with only more to come.

The Crunchyroll manga app is now available on iOS, Android, and the web.
