The long-awaited season 2 of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End finally has a new trailer and release window.
The trailer was revealed this weekend during Anime Expo in California. The series will simulcast with the Japanese release on Crunchyroll in January 2026.
After the party of heroes defeated the Demon King, they restored peace to the land and returned to lives of solitude. Generations pass, and the elven mage Frieren comes face to face with humanity’s mortality. She takes on a new apprentice and promises to fulfill old friends’ dying wishes. Can an elven mind make peace with the nature of life and death? Frieren embarks on her quest to find out.
Season 1 took audiences by storm, viewers praising the animation, storylines, and themes of the fantasy series. Frieren and her beloved bands of heroes from across the eras won the hearts of many as they began their journey, and excitement has continued to build as they’ve awaited the adventure to continue.
Tomoya Kitagawa, who worked on storyboards and directed multiple episodes in season 1, will direct season 2. Season 1 director Keiichiro Saito is overseeing season 2 as its Supervising Director. Additional staff for season 2 include Assistant Directors Daiki Harashina (takt op. Destiny); series composition written by Tomohiro Suzuki (One-Punch Man); Character Design by Takasemaru (Violet Evergarden), Keisuke Kojima (100 Meters), and Yuri Fujinaka (key animation on SPY x FAMILY CODE: White); Concept Art by Seiko Yoshioka (background art on Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo); and Evan Call will return to compose the music.
The series was nominated for Anime of the Year and the winner of Best Drama, Best Director (Keiichiro Saito), Best Background Art, and Best Supporting Character at the 9th Annual Crunchyroll Anime Awards held earlier this year.
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 1 is currently streaming on Crunchyroll in both subtitled and dubbed formats.
