Los Angeles based singer-songwriter John Ondrasik, known most as Five for Fighting, held an intimate performance at Buffalo’s newest music venue, Electric City, on August 8 at the start of his 2024 Summer tour.
Electric City, formerly known as the Tralf Music Hall, has been completely renovated and modernized, making it the perfect setting for Ondrasik’s soothing, melodic style.
Local opener Ten Cent Howl set the mood with their classic Americana folk rock sound. Then Ondrasik took the stage accompanied by tour musicians Pete Thorn on guitar, Sean Hurley on bass, and Randy Cooke on drums. The crowd sang along as they opened the set with an energetic rendition of “America Town”. The high energy continued as Ondrasik played on piano and acoustic guitar. Ondrasik paused the show to speak about his efforts to help the citizens of Afghanistan before a solemn performance of “Blood on My Hands”. They finished out the set with crowd favorites.
The Five for Fighting tour will continue for the next few weeks around the Great Lakes region and along the Atlantic coast, concluding in Port Washington, NY on October 10th.
