Jensen Ackles is set to headline a brand new series for Prime Video, titled Countdown. The project is from Amazon MGM Studios.
According to Prime Video’s press release, the 13-episode series was developed for Ackles, who also has a deal with Amazon MGM Studios. The series is from Derek Haas, who created the series and will serve as executive producer and showrunner, and is the first series under his Amazon MGM Studios deal as well.
Haas previously co-created or executive produced five of the most-watched shows in recent years: Chicago Fire, Chicago PD, Chicago Med, FBI, and FBI: International.
Ackles is most known for his role as Dean Winchester on the fifteen-season series Supernatural, and has appeared in The Boys, Big Sky, and most recently on CBS’ Tracker.
Here’s the synopsis:
Countdown starts following a suspicious murder in broad daylight, which leads to LAPD officer Mark Meachum (Jensen Ackles) being recruited to join a secret task force of undercover agents from all branches of law enforcement to investigate. But as the truth of a more sinister plot comes into focus, the team must overcome their conflicting personal agendas to unite and save a city of millions.
Countdown will stream exclusively on Prime Video.
