(G)I-DLE’s Yuqi Announces First Solo Album

Just over a couple of months following K-pop girl group (G)I-DLE’s latest comeback, group member Yuqi is branching out. Recently, CUBE Entertainment announced that Yuqi is finally getting her own album with upcoming mini-album YUQ1. The EP will release digitally on Tuesday, April 23 on streaming platforms, with an offline release set for Wednesday, April 24.

Fans will get their full first taste of YUQ1 with the pre-release song “Could It Be,” set to release April 5 at 6 p.m. KST/5 a.m. ET. Following the single, the full track list will be revealed on April 8, with concept teasers and MV teasers throughout the rest of the month leading to the album’s release. The MV and full EP debut online on April 23 at 6 p.m. KST/5 a.m. ET, with the offline release set for the following day. Check out the full promotion schedule here.

While the mini-album marks Yuqi’s official solo debut, she has released several covers and other singles during her time with (G)I-DLE showcasing her ability to shine as a solo artist. Cover wise, she has offered renditions of songs such as “Flowers” by Miley Cyrus, “Easy on Me” by Adele, “ghost town” by JVKE, and more. Beyond covers, some of Yuqi’s singles include “Giant,” “Bonnie & Clyde,” and OST tracks like “Not Your Cinderella,” and more. More recently, Yuqi collaborated with JVKE and Alan Walker for the track “Fire.”

Beyond her solo work, Yuqi is one of five members of (G)I-DLE, which also includes Soyeon, Minnie, Miyeon, and Shuhua. The group debuted in 2018 with six members and have since released a number of EPs and a full-length album, bringing fans hits such as “Tomboy,” “Nxde,” “Queencard,” “Oh My God,” and several others. At the end of January, the group released their second full-length album entitled 2, led by title track “Super Lady.”
