Cannes Film Festival Best Actor award winner and SAG, Golden Globe, and Emmy-nominated actor David Thewlis, whom you may recognize as Remis Lupin from the Harry Potter series amongst other roles, is bringing a classic British character stateside. The CW has given a series order to Sherlock & Daughter, a new twist on the classic detective’s story.

The series will follow Thewlis’ Holmes as he is pushed out of his comfort zone by a sinister case he cannot investigate without risking the lives of his dearest friends, followed by another shock when he meets Amelia (Blu Hunt), an American girl who suspects he is her long lost father. Between the mystery of Amelia’s mother’s murder and Sherlock’s recent unsolved case, the duo make a unique pair. However, despite their differences, the pair must work together to solve a global conspiracy, crack her mother’s murder, and confirm her suspicion that she truly is Sherlock’s daughter. Not to mention Sherlock’s most infamous nemesis, Moriarty (Dougray Scott) is lurking as well.

Created by Brendan Foley, Sherlock & Daughter will see James Duff acting as showrunner. The pair will also serve as executive producers alongside Karine Martin, Chris Philip, Peter Gerwe, Dominic Barlow, Ivan Dunleavy, and Escapade Media. Starlings Television Distribution, Albion Television, and StoryFirst will produce the series from writers Micah War Dog Wright and Shelly Goldstein.
