Lionsgate today announced that AMC’s The Walking Dead is arriving on Blu-ray and DVD this October. The announcement was made on the day the global outbreak Wildfire virus was officially declared a pandemic by the CDC in the series (August 25, 2010).
Created by Academy Award nominee Frank Darabont, The Walking Dead: The Complete Collection features all 11 seasons of the series that wrapped up last November. The flagship series spawned multiple spin-offs, including Fear the Walking Dead, The Walking Dead: World Beyond, Tales of The Walking Dead, The Walking Dead: Dead City with Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon premiering on AMC this September.
When The Walking Dead premiered on Halloween night in 2010, the premiere garnered 5.35 million viewers in the United States with an average of 5.24 million viewers across the six episodes. From there, the zombie drama devoured television earning two Primetime Emmy’s, AFI TV Program of the Year, multiple Saturn Awards for Best Television Series and Best Television Presentation, a People’s Choice award, and a Critics Choice award. The Walking Dead stars Andrew Lincoln, Danai Gurira, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Chandler Riggs, Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride, Josh McDermitt, Christian Serratos, Ross Marquand, Khary Payton, and Seth Gillam.
The collection, available October 17, features all 11 seasons on 54 discs including a bonus disc containing a 42-minute documentary on the making of the final season, as well as a still gallery. The Blu-ray and Digital version will feature never-before-seen original packaging and disc artwork by Clio Award-winning artist Oliver Barrett. The Walking Dead : The Complete Collection will be available for $209.97 (Blu-ray and Digital) and on DVD exclusively at Walmart for $149.98.
