In anticipation of Disney’s live-action reimagining of The Little Mermaid, Halle Bailey, who plays Ariel in the upcoming film, took to the stage to perform “Part of Your Word” for hundreds of fans in front of Sleeping Beauty’s castle at Disneyland Resort.
The Little Mermaid tells the story of King Triton’s youngest daughter, Ariel, who trades with a sea witch named Ursala, her beautiful voice for human legs, so the young mermaid can explore the human world and win over the heart of a prince.
Directed by Rob Marshall and written by David Magee, Marshall, and John DeLuca, the film stars Bailey as Ariel, Daveed Diggs as the voice of Sebastian, Jacob Tremblay as the voice of Flounder, Awkwafina as the voice of Scuttle, Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric, Art Malik as Sir Grimsby, Noma Dumezweni as queen Selina, Javier Bardem as King Triton and Melissa McCarthy as Ursula.
