Colleen Atwood to Reunite with Tim Burton as Costume Designer for ‘Beetlejuice 2’
In an interview with Variety, legendary costume designer Colleen Atwood confirmed she will be reuniting with director Tim Burton to work on Beetlejuice 2, the sequel to the 1988 sleeper hit.
The pair have worked together for over three decades, with their partnership resulting in iconic looks for Mars Attacks!, Edward Scissorhands, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Alice in Wonderland, and Dumbo. Atwood was not the costume designer for the first Beetlejuice film, however, a role taken on by Aggie Guerard Rodgers.
Most recently Atwood has worked on Netflix’s Wednesday series and Disney’s live-action The Little Mermaid.
Burton returns to direct the sequel with a cast lead by returnees Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder, reprising their original roles of the titular character and Lydia Deetz, as well as Catherine O’Hara. Newcomers to the franchise include Wednesday Addams herself Jenna Ortega as Lydia’s daughter, Monica Bellucci as Beetlejuice’s bride, Willem Dafoe as an afterlife law enforcement officer, and Justin Theroux in an unknown role.
Beetlejuice 2 will make our millennium when it releases in theaters September 6, 2024.
